My Boy
By Sheri Reguly

Use a single DesignBlock image to create a stunning stamped background. Create two distinct looks by stamping the image once onto a subtle patterned paper using a slightly darker shade of ink, then again onto kraft colored cardstock using VersaMark topped with white embossing powder. Complete the page by using stamped cut out leaf images as embellishments.

Tip: Save time, ink and effort, by only stamping the portion of the image you need. An entire DesignBlock image stamped onto yellow patterned paper wasn't necessary to complete my page...half was sufficient.

What to do...

  1. Trim a sheet of white cardstock to 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" and adhere towards the bottom left corner of a 12" x 12" brown cardstock background.
  2. Stamp the DesignBlock "Outline Flowers" image onto kraft colored cardstock using VersaMark. Top with white embossing powder and heat set. Cut the image out, and trim a 3/4" strip off of the left hand side. Adhere the strip to the white cardstock background as shown. Next, position the photo to the right of it, and use it as a guide to position the larger portion of the stamped image.
  3. Adhere a 3/4" strip of striped patterned paper below the stamped flower image.
  4. Stamp the DesignBlock "Outline Flowers" image again, this time onto a subtle yellow patterned paper using a darker shade of yellow ink. Trim off a 1/2" strip and adhere below the striped patterned paper, then trim off 3 3/8" x 1 1/3" strip and adhere above the kraft paper as shown.
  5. Add machine stitching details to page, and permanently adhere the photo.
  6. Computer generate the title and journaling, print, trim, and adhere above the photo.
  7. Trim label and adhere to page, slightly tucking beneath the photo.
  8. Stamp the leaf image three times onto white cardstock using green ink. Carefully cut the images out, leaving a thin white border around all edges, and adhere to page as shown.
  9. Stamp the sentiment onto kraft colored cardstock using black ink. Cut out using a circle punch and mat onto a larger scalloped circle cut from brown cardstock. Adhere to the bottom right portion of the label.
  10. Embellish the layout with gemstones, brads, a layered flower accent, and punched butterfly image.
